Paul: Hi could I see the menu please? 

Lady: (Gave Paul the Chinese menu) oh sorry. I gave you the wrong one that was the Chinese menu 

Paul: Oh well that's okay because I'm Chinese

Lady: Whoa

Paul: Whoa whoa what

Lady: ABC sure 

Paul: ABC

Lady: American-born Chinese 

Paul: I realize what it stands for I'm just saying that that doesn't mean that I can't read it

Lady: Okay 

Paul: Um excuse me, (offended) excuse me I know how to read Chinese okay, certainly enough to order some dishes okay. I went to Chineseschool as a kid I had a tutor every saturday 

Lady: Sir I did not mean anything by it no need to be sensitive 

Paul: I’m not being a sensitive I'm just pointing out that so that you know

Lady: (takes out Chinese menu) here is the Chinese menu

Paul: Thank you yeah this is all like, thanks

Look it's not a big deal if l can't read it, some ABCs can, others like me can't, it doesn't take away from who I am but it's too late I'm in too deep now hey wait a minute I recognize this oh that's um
