PART I
00:00 — THE CAGES
LANNISTER SOLDIER: Water for the prisoners, boy!
ARYA: (under her breath) When the snows fall and the white winds blow... the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives. (She looks toward the cages.)
ARYA: That's not how it happened. I lived. Alone. And the pack was caught. Skinned.
00:55 — FOOTSTEPS STOP
(Arya approaches a cage. A prisoner reaches through the bars.)
ARYA: Water.
01:02 — IRON CHAINS
JAQEN: (quietly) A little more would be welcome. A man in chains grows thirsty.
ARYA: (watchful) What's your name?
JAQEN: Jaqen H'ghar. From Lorath. A long way from home. (A faint smile.) Had this one known what waited here, he might have stayed there.
ARYA: Jaqen H'ghar.
JAQEN: A man needs a name. What is yours?
ARYA: I—
JAQEN: Names are useful. They help us make friends.
ARYA: I don't need friends.
JAQEN: No? (Beat.) This one will remember.
ARYA: Remember what?
JAQEN: The bowl. You never let it touch the bars.
ARYA: So?
JAQEN: So you don't want to be a prisoner.
ARYA: You talk too much.
JAQEN: Three days.
ARYA: What?
JAQEN: This one has spoken to no one for three days.
ARYA: You're lying.
JAQEN: No. A man can lie. A man can tell the truth. A man can simply leave the truth unsaid. YOREN: (distant) Weasel! Get back here!
ARYA: I have to go.
JAQEN: You'll come back. (Arya stops.)
ARYA: How do you know?
JAQEN: Because you need something. And you know it.
03:04 — THE RUN
(Arya runs.)
03:18 — THE BARN
ARYA: (breathless, remembering) That night, I saw a man throw down his sword. He surrendered. They killed him anyway. I found an axe. Pulled it free. Then an iron hand caught me. I turned. Swung. The blade found his legs. (A ragged breath.) Going back into that barn... That was the hardest thing I've ever done. Smoke everywhere. Black as night. Moving like a living thing. I kept low. Donkeys screaming. Horses kicking. Men crying out. Then I heard him. The boy. I crawled toward the sound. A wagon wheel. The chain was caught. He pulled. The wagon lurched.
ARYA: (sharp breath) I raised the axe. Once. Twice. Three times. The rope broke.
04:25 — FOOTSTEPS STOP
JAQEN: You saved a man.
ARYA: (breathing hard) I saved everyone.
JAQEN: No. You saved this one. (Beat.) The Red God keeps accounts, little wolf. Life is a debt. Death is the payment. You took three lives from him. Now three must be returned.
ARYA: Three names?
JAQEN: Three names.
ARYA: Anyone?
JAQEN: Anyone.
ARYA: What if I name you? (Silence.)
JAQEN: This one is one man. Not three. And this one owes you three lives. You must choose another name.
ARYA: (studying him)
05:30 — JAQEN WALKS INTO THE FIRE
ARYA: (voice-over) Three lives. A debt to a god I didn't believe in. I didn't understand him. Not really. But I knew one thing. He meant it. He would do it. HARRENHAL
06:04 — FOOTSTEPS STOP
JAQEN: Weasel. Come.
ARYA: (wary) What are you doing here?
JAQEN: Serving soup.
ARYA: I didn't save you so you could—
JAQEN: This one still owes you three lives.
ARYA: I saw you standing guard.
JAQEN: This one was standing guard. And serving soup. (A beat.) A man may do two things.
ARYA: Who are you?
JAQEN: Jaqen H'ghar. Have you forgotten already?
ARYA: That's not your name.
JAQEN: All names are lies. Yours included.
ARYA: My name is Arya.
JAQEN: Many who have called you that are dead.
07:02 — NORTHERN THEME
(Arya goes still.)
ARYA: I know.
JAQEN: What do you know?
ARYA: (barely holding herself together) My father is dead. My mother is dead. My brothers are dead. They're all dead.
JAQEN: Yes.
ARYA: (looking up) Do you know who killed them?
JAQEN: Frey. Bolton. Lannister.
ARYA: They're on my list.
JAQEN: A long list makes for a short life.
ARYA: I'm not afraid.
JAQEN: That is what frightens this one. (Arya says nothing.)
ARYA: Jaqen.
JAQEN: Yes?
ARYA: Why help me?
JAQEN: A debt. Three lives.
ARYA: That's all? (Jaqen studies her.)
JAQEN: This one sees Winterfell.
ARYA: (bitterly) Winterfell is gone.
JAQEN: Not where it matters. (A long silence.)
JAQEN: Three names. Take your time.
ARYA: I have.
JAQEN: Then speak.
ARYA: Chiswyck. Polliver.
JAQEN: The names are spoken. Death will come. Tomorrow. Next moon. Next year. It matters not. It comes. Even for kings.
ARYA: I don't want your riddles. I want tonight. (Jaqen looks at her.)
JAQEN: Tonight.
09:35 — THE GHOST OF HARRENHAL
