Sarah Essen：Sniff around city hall if you want. Smart money says this was just wrong place, Go work it.

Harvey Bullock：Uh... slave driver. Don't worry, Jim. I know just where to start.

Mayor James：Torn down. Brick by brick, if need be. And in its place, a cutting-edge, state of the art mental health facility. This is a vision for the future of our city.

Journalist B：An opposing plan is gaining support recently.

Mayor James：A plan that would do away with the asylum altogether, use the surrounding land as a waste disposal site. No, the Wayne plan is best for this city and, more importantly, for the people of this city. This is why I am endorsing it.

James Gordon：But Councilman Jenkins was backing Falcone's plan.

Alfred Pennyworth：That's right.

James Gordon：Then he was killed because...

Alfred Pennyworth：( 快速接上 ) Because, detective, there is an opposing plan.

James Gordon：( 思考一秒后迅速反应过来 ) Maroni. He's the only one strong enough to oppose Falcone. He's making a play at Arkham.

[场景：布鲁斯韦恩突然出现]

Bruce Wayne：Are they related?

James Gordon：Bruce. How are you?

Bruce Wayne：( 阅读语气 ) 'A new Arkham Asylum will serve the mentally ill of Gotham in ways the present asylum never can. Those poor, sick souls deserve our help. ' My mother wrote that. She and my father fought for years to get a new asylum built. They thought that if they can help the city's least fortunate, it would show there was hope for everyone. I just don't want my parents' dream to die with them. 

James Gordon：But this isn't just about the asylum. If there is a fight between Falcone and Maroni, this could be the spark that ignites a citywide gang war. Innocents will die, and whatever little faith people have that the police can protect them... it will be crushed.

Bruce Wayne：So you have to stop it.

Sarah Essen：Two councilmen dead in as many days. Can't be a coincidence. Got to be politics driving this. He was right.

Harvey Bullock：I never said he was wrong. I just wanted him to be. ( 喝一口水，CV自配 ) All right, genius, any other insights?

James Gordon：Yeah. This is about the Arkham vote.

Harvey Bullock：How so?

James Gordon：Arkham is more than just a land deal, it's a war between Falcone and Maroni. These councilmen were on opposite sides of that war.

Harvey Bullock：So, who did who?

James Gordon：The way I see it, Maroni struck first. He had Jenkins killed to change the vote his way. Then Falcone retaliated, had Zeller killed to change the vote back. Burning the body was Falcone's way of sending a message.

Sarah Essen：I'll have guards put on all the other councilmen and the mayor till this plays out. 

Harvey Bullock：So, you want to tell me? Come on. Falcone, Maroni, Arkham? How the hell do you know so much all a sudden?

[场景：戈登眼神示意布洛克尼格玛的到来]

Harvey Bullock：Ed, what you got?

Edward Nygma：I have a paradox for you.

Harvey Bullock：What?

Edward Nygma：Well, a paradox, detective, is when you have...

Harvey Bullock：( 打断，不耐烦 ) I know what a paradox is, smart ass. What paradox?

Edward Nygma：These are the medical examiner's reports on the murders of Councilman Jenkins and his aide. Both victims sustained fatal puncture wounds to the skull via the eye socket. The weapon was some kind of metal spike.

Harvey Bullock：Okay. So?

Edward Nygma：Councilman Zeller also has wounds from a metal spike. It's an extremely unlikely coincidence, don't you think?

Harvey Bullock：So you're saying Zeller, Jenkins and the aide were killed by the same person?

Edward Nygma：It would appear so, wouldn't it?

James Gordon：Same killer working for both Maroni and Falcone? That's nuts.

Harvey Bullock：( 轻笑 ) Only in Gotham. Come on.

James Gordon：Where are we going?

Harvey Bullock：Go see a friend of mine.

Prisoner：I heard of him. His name's Gladwell. A real pro.

Harvey Bullock：You know where we can find him?

Prisoner：Word was he works out of the Lansky building in Midtown.

Receptionist：Oh, you mean Richard. He works in Human Resources. Richard's not in any trouble, is he?

Voice-over：Gordon proceeded toward the rear shelves, unaware that in the shadows, Gladwell was assembling his steel spike and anticipating Gordon's approach. Gordon attentively caught the sound of mechanical rotation. Drawing his pistol, he advanced slowly towards the shadow behind the shelf. Both were cautiously on guard, anticipating each other's sudden appearance, just as Bullock shouted loudly out of sudden.

Harvey Bullock：Look what was in his desk. Jenkins and Zeller. We got him. Man, I love the easy ones.

Voice-over：Gordon detected another sound from behind. Signaling to Bullock to ready his firearm, he moved cautiously toward the shelves.

Staff：( 恐慌 ) It's-it's just a box of paperclips. I didn't think anyone would mind.

Voice-over：Gordon, accompanying the mayor, opened the door, only to be greeted by a looming hand unexpectedly reaching out towards them. Startled, Gordon swiftly withdrew, stumbling to the ground in a panic, causing the pistol in his pocket to tumble out as well. He had no time to pick up the pistol and could only promptly shielded the mayor by withdrawing upstairs and returning to his study.

[James Gordon：Is there another way out?]

[Mayor James：Here. ]

Mayor James：( 慌乱 ) He's trying to get in. Shoot him. Why don't you shoot him?

James Gordon：( 急切 ) He's got my gun. I can't. Go, go, go!

Voice-over：Gladwell shattered the lock with two shots and entered the study. He got in the hidden entrance and was unexpectedly struck by Gordon who had been lurking beside the entry, wielding a stick. Gordon swiftly kicked the pistol aside, initiating a close and lethal melee. Despite making numerous attempts to get at the mayor, he found himself thwarted by the blows delivered by Gordon. Gladwell had then shifted his focus to Gordon. Brandishing the long steel spike in his hand, he forcefully thrust it toward Gordon's eye socket, leading to a fierce struggle between them. In this pivotal moment, Bullock made a timely entrance.

Barbara Kean：( 强忍悲伤 ) All right. Well... I'm not gonna live like this. I can't live like this. You're gonna have to make a choice, Jim. You either let me in or you let me go.

James Gordon：Maroni gets to build a waste disposal site and he gets the contract to refurbish Arkham. Falcone gets to build a low-income housing project.

Bruce Wayne：( 叹气 )

James Gordon：( 劝慰 ) Look... Bruce, I know it's not the outcome you had hoped for, but this compromise may have prevented a lot of bloodshed. It may have even stopped a war.

Bruce Wayne：( 注意情绪渐进 ) My parents believed a new asylum would bring hope to Gotham. Now that's gone. Everything they worked for is now falling into the hands of criminals.

James Gordon：Not everything. You're alive. It's not too late.

Bruce Wayne：( 抓住一线希望 ) Do you really believe that? Do you believe Gotham can be saved?

James Gordon：( 真挚 ) I believe it's worth trying.

Voice-over：Everything had been meticulously planned. The feud between Falcone and Maroni, along with the money in the dark room, caught Cobblepot's attention, and he sensed an opportunity. He hired three robbers and effortlessly pillaged the momentarily unattended restaurant, resulting in the manager's demise. Subsequently, he smoothly dispatched these robbers with the cannoli. In the process of gaining Maroni's trust, he also acquired a substantial sum of cash. Cobblepot gazed coldly at the three lifeless bodies on the ground and told himself that this marked the initial stride toward his ascent as the King of Gotham. Every subsequent move must be taken with caution as he must not share the fate of those fools now lying before him.
